Information for Participants. Participants should arrive at the training site one hour before official sunrise. Training and Surveys begin 45 minutes before official sunrise. Training sessions will be conducted rain or shine. Evaluations may be delayed because of weather. After the survey session, the group will adjourn for breakfast, then convene for discussions, data transcription and other activities. Daily activities will generally finish by noon or so, depending on the time taken to transcribe data. If you are interested in nearby lodging accommodations, click here. Participants will need to bring the following items: pen and pencil, tape recorder, one tape, extra batteries, binoculars, watch, compass and flashlight. Survey forms will be provided during training and evaluation. Participants must also have a copy of the protocol and are required to read through it prior to the training session. Participants are encouraged to download and listen to the Marbled Murrelet Survey Training Tape. Training Itinerary Day 1: All participants conduct a survey with individual assistance from instructor. Surveys will be transcribed to survey forms and a discussion will follow. Day 2: Participants and Instructors perform a simultaneous survey which serves as an evaluation. Surveys will be transcribed and submitted to instructor for evaluation. |
