Adam Brown

Adam found his love for the environment and wildlife during his undergraduate years at Evergreen State College where he focused in wildlife biology. Following his graduation, Adam was fortunate enough to have worked for the California Condor recovery program and following that began a long and productive period of internships and technician positions where he learned the ins and outs of field biology. PRBO Conservation Science hired Adam in 2000 to co-lead seabird colony research at Vandenberg Air Force Base, in Santa Barbara County, California. He was then chosen by PRBO to be the lead researcher during the Fall season on Southeast Farallon Island, focusing on avian migration and white shark ecology. Simultaneous to his work for PRBO, Adam co-founded Environmental Protection in the Caribbean (EPIC) in 2000. EPIC is a conservation and research based non-profit that focuses its efforts in the Caribbean basin. In 2006, Adam began a white shark research project in Humboldt County, California, where he began tracking the local and global movements of white sharks. While working with PRBO, EPIC, and independently, Adam has authored over 50 peer-reviewed or technical papers on wildlife. Adam came to MRB in 2006 and has focused on wildlife monitoring, specifically Marbled Murrelet, Northern Spotted Owl, and Western Snowy Plover. Adam is married to Natalia Collier and has two kids, Cadence and Ella.
